Telegram's Live Location function allows you to show your current position to friends, family, or group members for a certain amount of time. Unlike a one-time static location pin, live location updates continuously as you move—perfect for meeting up, tracking a journey, coordinating events, or ensuring safety. The sharing is encrypted from one end to the other, and you decide who can see it and for how long, which can be 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 8 hours.
Important Notes:
Open Telegram and find the private chat, group, or channel you want to send your location to.
Tap the attachment icon (paperclip 📎 or + symbol) next to the message input field.
Select Location from the menu.
Telegram will display your current location on a map. Tap Share My Live Location for…
Choose the duration:
(Optional) Add a message or note explaining why you're sharing your location.
Tap Send or the checkmark. Your live location is now shared!
The recipient sees a map in the chat with your profile picture moving in real time.
Tap the map preview to open a full-screen interactive view (zoom, switch map/satellite/hybrid modes).
To stop sharing early: Tap the live location message → Stop Sharing Location.
The process is similar but slightly different:
Desktop users can view live locations but cannot start sharing from web version in some cases—use mobile for initiating.
